Fantastic!! December 17, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
An absolutely brilliant book! I saw the show and then read the book and seeing the show beforehand didn't mean that the story was spoilt at all, conversly it meant you wanted to read it to relive the terrific evening spent seeing Dave live! What a terrific book and oh, my aching sides!
Really, really funny. December 10, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This has to be, without doubt, the funniest book i have ever read. Very well written between Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace (Join Me). They kept me reading almost non-stop and had me laughing out loud many, many times throughout their quest to find other Dave Gormans. I love it!!
Well worth reading. November 27, 2003 ‘Are You Dave Gorman?’ tells the story of Dave Gorman’s world-wide search to find his namesakes after a drunken bet with friend Danny Wallace. It is written from the points of view of both Gorman and Wallace and as a result makes the reader feel a part of the story and although their adventures are very funny the real comedy in this book is in the relationship between the two authors (and one neglected girlfriend). This book never claims to be a great work of literature and you can safely say it isn’t however this book is about something much more important than great literature. This book is about friendship, the kindness of strangers and tequila. If you are a fan of Dave Gorman’s live performances or his television work with Danny Wallace then you will definitely like this book, if you are unfamiliar with Gorman’s work then the chances are this will make you a fan, read it, I think you’ll like it.
The best book ever...? November 11, 2003 Dave Gorman is quite possibly insane. His book, however, is magnificent - mainly due to his insanity. It is a hilarious account of his and Danny Wallaces (Join Me is great, too), journey to meet a number of Mr Gormans namesakes. It is one of very few books I have laughed out loud at and would probably read again - if everyone I know didn't want to borrow it! Not only is it generally very funny, but also gripping in a weird 'am I insane too' kind of way. Will Hanne forgive Danny? Will Dave pay off his debts? And of course will Dave meet his target. . . ?
I'm not Dave Gormam are you? October 14, 2003 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a premise for a great read the events within this book should never have happened. There is only one person to blame for this not the sweet innocent "butter wouldn't melt in his mouth Dave Gorman but Daniel Wallace. This book is a seriously good read!!! The misadventures of the ultimate odd couple are a blast from start to finish. You will like this book so much you will be buy random people on the street just to cheer them up on, any given Friday. Life has not been the same since reading this book. The world of Jamie Ramage's has now been looked into. From an Ambulance driver in Canada to a Sheep farmer in Australia I have to tell you now I’m neither. If you like Dave's name sakes you will want to look into your own. Trust me! My names not Dave Gorman is yours?
