5 out of 5 stars Sheer Brilliance   October 11, 2005

This is one of the those few books that actually induces the kind of raucous laughter that causes a whole train carriage to look at you. Aside from the rather amusing incidents, it is phrased in a manor that is typical Gorman. His self knocking and interesting take on events make this a cracking read.

The book centres around his failed efforts to write a novel, something many can sympathise with, and his descent into the world of the Googlewhack as a distraction. As with his last book on name chasing, it becomes an obsession after he makes a bet and he starts to lead the life a lot of us dream of, flying to all corners of the globe just to meet people who own the websites.

While it is an amusing novel it also teaches us something of the places he has visited and unlike most humour books, it weaves a gripping tale. As you near the conclusion of the book you will find yourself fighting with your inner devil not to turn to the back to see if he completed his task.

I read this book on holiday and was finished in two days. A must buy!

5 out of 5 stars Do not get drunk with this man !!   July 30, 2005
Dave Gorman clearly is a little detached from what the rest of us call reality, but this to be honest is a good thing ! This book is a journey that can show you how it is possible to do nothing of any note and yet still take you on a world tour, change your life and the lives of many others, get to near bankruptcy and still come up smelling of roses. DG is a fine writer and his passion for this true, self inflicted, story of obsession flows across every page.

I know Amazon don't sell tickets to the live show, but I highly recommend going to see DG as well as reading this book his talented articulation of insane drunken bets (I suspect there have been a few) is something to behold, laugh about and cry for.

5 out of 5 stars Another crazy comic challenge!   July 8, 2005
I love this book as I loved "Are You Dave Gorman?" and "Join me." Consiquently I would say that if you read those two books and loved them = as it is hard not to - you are sure to love this book! Dont be deterred by the computer related title - im hopeless with computers but this book is not in the least technological = more a unique example of comedy travel writing.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing if you read "I'm Dave Gorman" first...   February 25, 2005

This was quite an entertaining book. It's not nearly as good as "I'm Dave Gorman" (which is a 5* book) but it is quite similar. The theme of 'Boy gets drunk, boy gets wacky challenge, boy travels around the world meeting people fulfilling wacky challenge' is continued.

It's not a bad book, and DG has a very funny turn of phrase from time to time. However it's like DG had to finish the last third of the story in an afternoon. There was very little detail given for his meetings, the funny writing style all but disappeared. I felt cheated by the haste in which he completed it.

5 out of 5 stars Whacking all over the world   February 7, 2005

Dave Gorman is excellent company on a long journey - and he actually comes folded inside the book cover.. no, really, he does...

Well, it feels like it anyway. One of the most hilarious and personable reads I've had in a long time. Be ready for the funny looks you'll get at the bus stop for suddenly hooting with laughter... And it doesn't matter if you don't use the bus - once you get started on this googlewhacking adventure, you'll stand around at bus stops regularly as an excuse to read another chapter.
