This is the third Jeremy Clarkson book I've read. As always he's funny truthful and generally says the things we are all thinking. I'll look forward to his next one

This is the second hilarious collection of Clarkson's articles from over the years. It follows in the footsteps of his first collection, which is no bad thing. He shows us his usual cutting look at life, but in a way that cannot fail to make you smile and laugh out loud. He may be a grumpy old git but he is funny as hell! Perfect for short train journeys as each article is only four pages long and the topics under discussion are so varied there must be something for everyone. What is starting to worry me is that I'm beginning to agree with him more and more!!! Highly recommended.

Some newspaper columnists can get away with book-bound anthologies of their outpourings. Jeremy Clarkson is not one of them, although his sales figures seem to have other ideas. And Another Thing is a compilation of Clarkson's made-to-measure - and by now slightly out-of-date - rabble-rousing rants, recently(ish) published in the Sunday Times.
Clarkson's editorially commissioned soap-boxery is good at shifting newspapers. As part of the Sunday Times, he's a refreshing antidote to the depressing headlines and the sports pages. Generally, Clarkson's method of attack is to present a parody of the subject of his rant, and then mock that parody. What's known as a straw-man argument, in other words. Whilst lampooning something rather than offering objective criticism is obviously a whole lot more fun, especially in short bursts, it becomes tiresome page after page in book form. But then, maybe I am too much of a cardigan-wearing, save-the-lentils, communist Guardian-reader to appreciate the finer points of his style.
Our over-protective, busy-body government and the Health and Safety Executive are never far from this man's mind, but the topics for scorn sometimes contradict themselves. He bemoans the nanny state for sanitising the country in one column, but calls for the extinction of sharks and tigers because they're dangerous a few pages later. Which is it to be, Jezza?
When it comes to the written word, Clarkson is far better waxing lyrical about the things he loves: feats of engineering, and more specifically, cars (lest we forget). I Know You Got Soul is more interesting and funny than this book because of that.
And Another Thing got a few laughs out of me even though I decided I didn't like it within a few pages, so fair play to the man. It's clearly intended as a work of comedy rather than a social commentary. At least, for the sake of us all, I hope it is. Is there any real danger of Clarkson in grinch mode being taken seriously? Probably, hopefully not. Although I worry books like this could pave the way for The World According to Gary Bushell.
I don't read the Guardian or wear a cardigan, by the way.

Like him or loath him you cannot ignore Jeremy Clarkson. He definitely has a way with words and unless you've got a particular chip on your shoulder about this guys career/exposure, you will find this book very entertaining. I'll hold my hand up, I really enjoy Clarksons approach to life and find his writings hugely entertaining and although I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, I'd take a Clarkson written book on a long-haul flight over one by any other author.

Jeremy Clarson's And Another Thing, is a book I bought when I was in the UK last fall. His writing is so entertaining, to the point, sarcastic, blunt, and so funny-that I actually understood his rationale on how the world works....his writing style is exactly like he speaks.
Get this book because you will learn something, revisit your own points of view, and have a hilarious time doing so!
