what can i say? May 25, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
what can I say that has not been said. Not much, but this will waste a good deal of your life by making you whack when you should be working. As funny as you expect and then some.
If you like Dave Gorman (and who doesn't?), you'll love this March 26, 2004 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Being a big fan of writers such as Tony Hawks, Pete McCarthy and Bill Bryson, and having read Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace's collaboration 'Are You Dave Gorman?,' I was looking forward to reading this - and I wasn't disappointed. Not knowing what a Googlewhack was didn't put me off and it shouldn't put anyone else off either - Mr Gorman soon explains and the reader is taken along for a very funny ride. I actually read this on my train journey to work - not really the best place to read such a laugh-out-loud book and although I managed to muffle my outbursts most of the time, I'm sure I got some strange looks every once in a while. The singular voice utilised in Googlewhack (compared to the dual voice used in 'Are You Dave Gorman?') helps the book to flow much more easier, and helps absorb you in one man's mad quest. I would definately recommend this book to all my friends (and have done) and I've been encouraged to recommend this to you, so I am!
You have got to read this - believe me you really do! March 15, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I picked up the book on Saturday morning - and that was my whole day gone. I was unable to put the book down again, I ignored my boyfriend and the cat. Very few books make me laugh out loud but Dave Gormans description of his exploits following googlewhacks across the world definately made me laugh out loud - lots of times! All I can say really is don't take my word for it read it yourself - but be prepared for being unable to put it down again.
I Literally laughed out loud March 15, 2004 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I couldn't put this book down, I don't think I've ever found myself laughing out loud while reading in public before and I may have unsettled the nervous woman sat next to me on the plane at the time but it was an involuntary reaction to what is certainly the best travel-based book I've ever read. You follow the author through ups and downs written in a way that grip you throughout and provide a very personal insight written from the heart. More of the same please.
pure genius March 10, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a truly wonderful book. It is written with great warmth and personality and genuinly is laugh out loud funny! I could not put it down, and became a social hide-away for several days. I urge you to buy and read this book.
