5 out of 5 stars Brilliant fun   January 14, 2008

If you watched Long Way Down on BBC2 awhile ago then you may be slightly put off this, as I was a bit disapointed with LWD, but I took the plunge and bought Long Way Round and am I glad I did. Lots of other reviews give info on it, so just for me to say that it was funny and entertaining and sad at times, the saddest part was the last few episodes as we knew they would soon be finishing. At least we can watch it again, and that I will definately do! Much much better than LWD.

5 out of 5 stars Most addictive telly ever!   December 12, 2007

I bought this as a pressie for my dad and ended up keeping it! After one "sneak" episode I was hooked. This brilliantly addictive 10-episode DVD is the most captivating, heart-warming, moving series I have seen in years. You really find out who Ewan & Charley are as people and the lands they journey across are not only stunning but brimming with fascinating people and stories. Every single episode had us in laughter and often tears, too. Cannot reccommend highly enough. Looking forward to devouring Long Way Down now!

5 out of 5 stars The best 9.48 I've ever spent   December 2, 2007

This DVD was absolutely cracking! You really see the guys for who they are and experience all the ups and downs with them. The East Asia bit was the bit I was really looking forward to and it didn't disappoint in the slightest. It's good to see some famous people going out and doing something genuinely interesting for once, and helping disadvantaged kids to boot.

I rode my (push)bike to Astana, Kazakhstan from England this year, and had many similar experiences so I could really relate to Ewan and Charley in the programme. I hope to take my bike to Mongolia and Russia some time soon, and this DVD has really fuelled my wanderlust. If you're a real traveller or just an armchair traveller then you will not regret buying this DVD.

5 out of 5 stars To have the perfect adventure in your armchair ......   November 24, 2007

This was what makes life interesting - all rolled onto 3 DVDs with two brilliant people taking on an adventure of a lifetime - I cannot even begin to think how difficult it was for them - the weight of the bikes across some of the worst roads possible to drive on in Mongolia - even on the good roads to do the ammount of miles they did with only a couple of incidents goes to show their skills at riding and an ability to continue the adventure through to the end - I have read Jupiters Travels and it was interesting to see that they met up with the author of this book Ted Simon who is without a doubt one of the bravest adventureres of motorcycle history - well worth reading if you enjoyed this adventure.

1 out of 5 stars pampered, imperialistic travellers on a BMW   November 13, 2007

Ive never seen anything more laughable. This series is a joke. One episode begin by saying, "apart from two trucks and a camera crew we're on our own". What follows is the most luxurious bikered ever undertaken, let alone filmed.
The dialogue is so sparse, you are lucky if you get one sentance per country riden though. The stars so uncommunicative that my pet cat speaks to me more.
The trip so unadventurous, that Ive been more excited going to the suypermarket.
Far from being an adventure of a lifetime, this is a trip to forget. As soon as possible.
