4 out of 5 stars Easy accounts for seniors!   September 22, 2008

Once you get the hang of it, it is nearly enjoyable. You can erase your horlicks without apparent damage. The best aspect is a live, courteous and helpful telephone back-up team who answer my problems and even advise me of what I will do wrong next. Worth any amount of money!

If you want a product that so you can keep a check of your accounts then i would recommend Personal Accounts Home edition. I am a qualified bookkeeper for manual accounts and i am studying to become a computerised bookkeeper. So i wondered how this product would compare to the one i am using in my studies.

It compares very well, i think, as the one i am using for my studies is really for business. If you want one just for your finances to keep track of where you spend your money each month then this is a good product for the price.

It is fairly easy to use, the only thing i found odd was, when i opened up the demonstration version it was not very helpful, then when i went to open the Personal Accounts icon, i just got the demonstration version again, so i had clear the whole thing and start again by putting it in to another file on my computer now it works fine.

It is also helpful to know in the Preference icon on the main toolbar if you go into that set it so that when you exit your work it automatically saves, then you lose nothing along the way.

2 out of 5 stars out of date, apparently   July 26, 2007

According to Accountz, "Personal Accounts Home Edition" is an old version. Unlike its replacement, "Personal Accountz", it cannot import online bank / credit card statements as OFX, which I gather is now the standard format. For me, that's half the point of getting this kind of software, so I know which one I'll be buying.

You see all your balances in one window so you know exactly what you have and what you have spent it on. Double-click on any balance, including the forecast balance and you get an instant view of just that account, including running balance and what it will do in the future.

Entries are dead easy too. If I want to pay off my credit card, the money comes from the bank and goes to the card, how easy is that! and not a credit or debit in sight. Perfect.

1 out of 5 stars WHAT A CHEAP JACK PRODUCT   April 28, 2007

What a waste of my money!
If you want to see all your accounts on one page then this is the one for you. Even when requesting a view of a particular account it is very confusing. I can't tell clearly what is a credit or a debit and my balances are nearly always wrong at the end of each day. Even the 'HELP' pages are confusing. Bring back good old 'Quicken' is all I can say.
