EXTREMELY CHALLENGING July 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I CAN NOT FAULT THIS PRODUCT. I HAVE FOUND IT TO BE VERY CHALLENGING AND MENTALLY STIMULATING. YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR HAVING A BLONDE DAY AND YOUR BRAIN IS A SLEEP WHEN YOU JUST CAN'T MATCH THE SAME DIZZY HEIGHTS YOU ACHIEVED PREVIOUSLY. I HAVE FOUND MY MEMORY AND CREATIVE SKILLS HAVE IMPROVED GREATLY SINCE USING THIS PRODUCT. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND SOME OF THE BAD REVIEWS BASED ON THE PRODUCTS DURABILITY. ONE REVIEWER COMMENTED ABOUT THE NUMBERS ON THE BUTTONS NOT BEING OF A VERY HIGH STANDARD. I HAVE BEEN POUNDING ON THE BUTTONS FOR QUITE A FEW WEEKS NOW, AND I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I SUGGEST THIS DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER CUTS THEIR NAILS ON A REGULAR BASIS BECAUSE MY NAILS ARE QUITE SHORT AND I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM.
TO SUM UP FOR THE PRICE A VERY PRACTICAL,DURABLE AND ADDICTIVE LITTLE DEVICE.
A great product that falls short on one aspect of durability. November 11, 2007 45 out of 45 found this review helpful
When I got one of these, I thought it was great! It was one of the few things in life that is good for us and fun to do at the same time! Sadly, as with many good ideas that are produced today, it falls short on one key aspect; the item is well-made and I feel would have been quite durable, had it not been for one small, but important thing; the numbers and symbols on the key pad. These are only put on by the use of transfers, and as a consequence, these wear off after a very short time indeed... As one has to press rapidly and often when performing the various tests, this was a big mistake to use such a cheap method of manufacture... OK, so perhaps one can just about remember how the numbers were laid out on the key pad, and can perhaps at times rely upon memory (a test all of its own indeed!) but still, it's not really practical to be punching a bunch of blank keys in the hope that you have remembered correctly - and this naturally hinders the proper tests anyway, and so one would not get accurate results from performing them... Speed is of the essence here, and so one is trying to think what was where... The numbers and symbols on mine wore off after only about three or four weeks. I did get a no-quibble replacement, but have been 'put off' using it as frequently as I would since, because it is quite obvious that this will happen again, as it wasn't a fault, but due only to poor quality.
Despite how good everything else was about this product, sadly, I am only able to award it a single star, this is because, though the problem be a small one, it is nevertheless extremely vital to the proper operation and function of the item. What a terrible shame...
A great idea ruined by a manufacturer attempting to save money...
Useful and interesting February 21, 2007 45 out of 47 found this review helpful
I liked this. I bought it because I am writing a children's book about the brain and am including a chapter on brain-training. This is obviously not as wide-ranging or elegant as the Nintendo device, but I feel that for the money it's a very good addition to your brain-training exercises. One of the exercises really tested me and I improved extremely quickly, which was encouraging! No, it's not very beautiful, but I'd recommend it for its usefulness and simplicity. I can't remember what the full price is but I paid around 17 and was very happy.
Far too much money for what it is January 1, 2007 74 out of 81 found this review helpful
For the price of this unit I was hoping this would be a stand alone version of the game available on the Nintendo DS, namely "Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?" how wrong was I. It's the kind of thing you would expect to get in a Christmas cracker. This device is just playing on the current popularity of the Nintendo DS game, in my opinion it's not worth it. There are far better ways to improve mental functioning, don't be duped like I was.
