not night-vision goggles May 5, 2008 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I don't believe this product matches the description. A red light bulb does not provide night vision. I'm going to return this product.
A waste of money at half price! February 11, 2008 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
We bought this for a Christmas present for our son and thought we were getting a bargain as it was on half-price offer. What a swizz. They are uncomfortable, the "highly powered flash light" device is a feeble little red bulb and the "sonic ear listening device" is less effective than a pair of baked bean cans & a length of string. In fact, the user's night vision & listening capabilities are vastly improved if this device is carefully installed inside a wheelie bin. National Geographic have made a serious error of judgment in endorsing this piece of tat. Rubbish.
A disappointment for my son January 11, 2008 29 out of 31 found this review helpful
What a let down is all i can say. Night vision goggles....? Simply goggles with a small headlight on them ! I could have bought something similar to this for a couple of pounds in town. My son was very disappointed and has tried them on once and discarded them. Guess i should have read the reviews before i ordered - you live and learn.....
A joke December 26, 2007 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
These goggles actually hinder your ability to see in the dark! The only 'night vision' they can give you is in a well lit room in which you could see anyway. The idea of the goggles is a SMALL LED torch above the eyes. I could hold a torch above my head and have a much better but similar effect, the provided light even isn't any good, it's similar to that of a dying lightbulb. As for the 'enchanced hearing'? Really? Stay away from this product or you'll wind up with a very disappointed child.
Nice idea, but... November 18, 2007 83 out of 83 found this review helpful
...this is the second product we've bought from the National Geographic range and both have been disappointing (the other was a metal detector which, on average, detected metal from a range of about 5cm and then only if it was visible to the naked eye which rather negated the point of detecting it in the first place). The night vision goggles were given to our son on a camping trip with the idea that he would find it great fun to visit the loo etc on his own. After tripping over several guy ropes and blundering into the side of a large tent, it became obvious that the goggles were not enhancing his night vision. He'd have achieved the same effect in his swimming goggles which at least have another purpose. If only these things worked even a little bit you could feel that you hadn't been ripped off, but these goggles are right up there with every kids' walkie talkie on the market and that rotten metal detector.
