Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This versatile head is fitted with a 200PL-14 quick-release camera plate with a secondary safety catch. This head is perfect for 35mm SLR cameras with medium lenses, and light medium format cameras. A direct replacement of the 352QR Midi Ball Head, the 484RC2 features a strong die-cast construction, precision machined aluminium housing, and an extremely hard phenolic resin ball which provides smoother movements across all tilt positions. It has a single indexed ratchet locking knob for 360deg. pan and a double groove for +90deg.-90deg. tilt movements. Camera plate has a 1/4-20 male thread, and head to tripod attachment is 3/8 female.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product   March 25, 2008

Sturdy and stable yet not too heavy. Very easy to set camera in exactly the right position and then lock everything in place with the turn of one simple lever. The quick release mechanism is fantastic.

4 out of 5 stars Basic but sturdy   January 18, 2008

This is a very robust little ball head. For its size it will support a surprisingly heavy camera and lens combination. It is sufficiently lightweight to be handy for attaching to a travel tripod. However it is probably best suited to being used with a monopod, where the fact that it only has a single lever, locking and unlocking all movements, is not a disadvantage. On a tripod its inability to pan without also tilting probably limits its usefulness.
