Amazon.co.uk Review
With still not a peep out of The Sims 3 on PC, Electronic Arts are certainly keen to keep reinventing the franchise on consoles. This all new game is not for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and, as you might guess from the name, involves you being shipwrecked on a desert island. The concept is basically the same as Konami's Stranded Kids/Lost in Blue series although you start off completely alone with each of the different sims you create washed up on a different part of the island. Obviously your first task is to find something to eat and drink and a place to sleep, with the initial parts of the game recalling the early episodes of Lost (except without the smoke monster). Soon enough you're fashioning fish harpooning spears out of bits of bamboo, planting edible plants, weaving your own clothes and making giant tree houses and huts that would shame the average holiday camp. Most importantly you can train your very own monkey butlers to perform your every menial task for you (up to a point). Soon enough your fellow strandees turn up and the game's more traditional social elements come into play as it becomes less Lost and more Survivor. Once you're living in some degree of comfort you can then venture out and explore the island and try and find a way back to civilisation (or stay where you are - the game leaves it up to you). In fact it's probably the most interesting thing to happen to The Sims in years. Harrison Dent

CASTAWAY August 31, 2008 For a start i will say i love this game. The moment i started playing i loved it.
It is easier if you have more sims.I started with one sim and then discoverd that everyone said it was easier with more so i am starting again.
TIPS;
FOOD *coconuts are a great thing to have as a basic(so are bannanes) *when fishing with a rod wait for the bait to come in for more chance of catching a fish. *harvest all edible food possible. LEAVES AND WOOD AND STUFF *harvest all you can when still in good mood. *some non edible stuff is good for making. *some things can only be found in one place or beach/island FIRE *cook alot of what you eat and it will put up your skill. *keep possesions that burn away from the fire. ( i made that mistake) OTHER *swim in the sea for a wash. *you can find map pieces in clams and washed up bottles.some botteled messages inprove your sociel.
If you have and tips so you can help me pleas pleae email them to me at hazelbanner@phonecoop.coop
Enjoy it and i reccomend it.Its worth it
(loading is not that fast but it is so good it makes it wothwhile) (if you have a flashing need your sim may not peform a task)
Hope this is useful :)
Disappointed August 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game is a great idea, and it does have some fantastic aspects such as food recipes, harvesting woods and creating clothes and housing items. You can even keep chickens and grow vegetables - although the item limit is rather low especially if you intend to build the mansion.
However there are a LOT of things missing. No kissing, no woohoo, hardly ANY interesting interactions between sims. You can get married but it is difficult and when you look in relationships it still says best friends, not married.
No children and no aging. EA claim that aging cannot be achieved on the PS2. Well they managed to keep growing their hair and beards. Pregnancy, babies and marriage are lacking in this game. Loading times are especially annoying and happen not only when moving islands but during gameplay when looking at maps and inventory.
The end scenes are really poor to the point of laughable. Once you've finished the game there is not much else left to do. The Sims 2 games on PC were so popular because of the generations, you would have a new generation and the family would keep on growing and growing, but you cannot do this on any PS2 game. I don't think it will even be achieved on the PS3.
Addictive April 19, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This sims game is unique to other sims games but it's so addictive, completed the game in 3 days so it could be longer.
A great new twist January 14, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Being addicted to all the previous sims I was just so excited to get my hands on a new game and what a game, so different and that made it more of a challenge the old style sims had gotten a bit formulaic get a house get a job/pet get this get that etc you know how it goes. Downsides? Well loading times, the odd bit of freezing during gameplay which means you have to regularly save (you only forget to do this once as it infuriates you so much!) and the bad temperedness of the sims characters honestly you can make em as `nice` as poss and they still argue all the time I suppose its being stranded on a desert island! Still have to find the last bit of map so must get back to it!
Excellent January 13, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game was very realistic in the way you can build everything, hunt and gather food. Really Fun
