Not only a cricketer but also a hero March 10, 2007

For many years now I have been inspired by the eponymous subject - hero if you will - of this book. Not only throughout his career as a highly feared test batsman but also in his post-cricketing days as a pundit and panellist, most notably in his role as team captain on the BBC's "They Think It's All Over" he has been a model for many an aspiring cricketer-cum-comedic game show team captain, myself included. This tome, penned by the man himself, succeeds in bringing across to the reader an insight into how he has succeeded in so many varied walks of life. It swiftly becomes apparent from reading this book that it is the same steely resolve that saw him take 18 test centuries in a little over 200 innings that has seen him re-invent himself so very successfully in his post-playing days.
Highly recommended.
