Crazy Kids and a Mystery that Begs to be Solved January 7, 2008 Dr. Claire Elliot moved to quiet Tranquility, Maine with her rebellious teenage son Noah after the death of her husband. She takes over a small medical practice and starts to rebuild her life, but after only being in town for a short while, strange things start happening among the town's youth. Teenage pranks rapidly accelerate into a shooting spree at the local school. Clare wonders why some of the town's residents want to cover up the incidents and she also wonders if there might be a medical explanation for everything that is going on. Then folks start blaming her for what's happening and it looks like they want to drive her out of town.
Convinced that there's a medical reason for the evil behavior of the town's teenagers, Claire chases after every clue she can find. Then her son is arrested for a hit and run and that leads to the clue that might solve the puzzle.
BLOODSTREAM is a fast and fun five star read that will have you deeply involved in the mystery while you work along with Claire as she tries to figure it all out.

fantastic!! November 14, 2007 tess does it again with this fast moving yarn! A definate can't put it down book!
Gripping! October 18, 2007 Marvellous! Gripping from beginning to end. I'm not usually a fan of books with heavy emphasis on medical explanations but, obviously in this case, it was a necessary part of the plot. But it didn't go overboard and I really enjoyed the story. Thrilling, well written, believable characters - what more could a read want?!!
good, but slightly formulaic October 15, 2007 This book started of really good and I had extremely high hopes. I've read books by Gerritsen before, both from her Rizzoli series and also standalones. As I said it starts well and the pace thru-out is steady, however toward the end it becomes slightly formulaic and 'paint by numbers crime'/ I'm sure this is due to 'Bloodstream' being one of Tess' first books. I sha'll try and give little away incase you are yet to read it, but if you have already read this book you will understand how the romance between two main characters half way through is slightly un-original. But like i've said it is an enjoyable book, deserving of more if not for some of the obvious and unoriginal plot ideas.
sci-fi / reality August 22, 2007 I'm not a big fan of horror/fantasy books as I find it hard to enjoy a story unless I can picture it happening in the real world. I was initially unsure in which direction 'Bloodstream' was heading with all the talk of satanic cults and the likes but was releaved to find that it was realistic enough. What I mean is, with my understanding of science what Ms Gerritsen describes is entirely plausible.
Essentially, it's about a city doctor who moves out into the countryside with her son to try and keep him out of trouble. Unfortunately, he's a young teenager and very angry about being yanked away from his life and friends. Soon he's not the only angry kid around with school shootings, family massacres and general violence erupting among the youth for no apparent reason. Dr Elliot decides there is more to it when she finds out the same thing happened 52years ago in the town of Tranquility... but will she find out what the cause in time to save her son?
