Ella Enchanted is probably the best book i have ever read!
When I read it at first,I just wanted to read it over and over again.
It is an amazing book full of exiting moments, clever ideas and intresting characters. Gail Carson Levine is the greatest!
I think this book can be for all ages.

Ella Enchanted was the best book i've ever read. I received the book at Christmas and started it a few weeks later. I would definitely recomend this book for ages 9 to 15 (as I read it at the age of 9). I enjoyed how Ella had a disadvantage because of her "gift". I took about a month to read it all, but couldn't wait to hear the ending.

As a kid, while watching Cinderella I found myself wondering, What is wrong with her? Why did she stay with her step-family when they treated her so terribly? Why was she such a wimp?
It bothered me to no end, and every time I went over it, tried to give myself some valid explanation, I got even more frustrated with her inability to do anything but obey orders. And the whole marrying the Prince after having only one dance thing, I mean, come on. He could have been a psycho or weird...He was already a little strange: foot fetish...I didn't buy it.
Now, one day, my sister brought this book home from her school library. I hadn't read anything outside of school for at least two years, and when I picked this up, it started me reading once again and answered the ever-present question about Cinderella...
The answer: It wasn't that she was a wimp; she was just cursed, cursed into obedience. Sounds like the best thing since cereal. Ella of Frell, the main character of the book, hates being told what to do, because when someone barks an order, she has to obey. If she fights back or struggles, it physically hurts, so she goes along. And it's all because of one fairy who thought that her blessing would do some good, instead of turning into a curse...
Immediately, right from the very first page, I liked Ella; she's real, not perfect or beautiful, just different and flawed. And when her mother dies and her father remarries, and remarries a horrid woman at that, I felt bad for her.
Her voice comes out very well in the story as many of her misfortunate mishaps are related, most of them due to her curse, which has made her into a klutz by choice and rebellious on her own part. Throughout the story she encounters a number of fantasy creatures, including fairies, centaurs, ogres, and giants.
The character of Prince Charmont, didn't like his name, although making too few appearances in my opinion, was, in fact, very charming, and the relationship between him and Ella was believable and nice.
The thing I liked most about this book, though, was Ella. Sometimes in stories, the main character is just perfectly beautiful and extroardinary, almost to the point where it becomes nauseating, but in Ella's case, she was just ordinary. I liked that. The story was clean and imaginative, and the characters were very well drawn out.
I don't want to say too much; the story speaks for itself. I know the hype about this book is huge, and if you saw the movie...well, just forget it and give the original book a try. I've read it so many times, I've lost count, and considering that after several years of not reading, this was the one book that made me read again, I think it deserves a certain amount of merit. And, also, which is only the case for about four books read over the past twelve years, this is among the few that I actually can remember the exact day I read it (which is a really strange thing that happens when I love a story). And this story I do love very much and probably will for many years. I only hope that other people enjoy it as much as myself, or even more...
Another Cinderella adaptation that is my favorite, along with Ella Enchanted, is Silver Woven In My Hair by Shirley Rousseau Murphy. It is extremely short, but worth finding and a very sweet story.

Ella enchanted was absolutley BRILLIANT! i was engrossed from the very first page, and i read the book in one go it was so good.
Ella was given the gift of obedience by the stupid fairy, Lucinda (who's gifts also include being turned into a squirrel), when she was a baby. She must obey everything anyone tells her, from giving away her mother's valuable necklace to breaking up with her best friend. It is physically impossible for her to disobey!
Soon, her evil stepsister Hattie realises that she can make Ella do whatever she tells her to, and Ella ends up as a scullery maid. She is even forced to leave her beloved Prince Char! Looks like Ella needs some help from her fairy godmother...
Will Ella and Prince Char be together again? Will Ella ever be free of her curse? I stayed up all night reading, i was so desperate to find out!
I would recommend Ella Enchanted to anyone who wants a really good read, but particularly girls aged 12-15. It is the best book i've read all year, and you won't be wasting a single penny by buying this book!

this book is lovely, i just wish there were more of the same type of books.
ella is a spunky, determined heroine who has had a curse put on her since birth that says she has to be obedient. while she is trying 2 find out ways to set her free, her life is getting even worse.
this book had everything in it, wit, romance, comedy, adventure and a great plot. ella is a great heroine, one you can really relate to and ella enchanted is loosely based on the story of cinderella
one of the best books i have read - it is an unmissable one of a kind
