This Book is worth every penny ! August 25, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am planning a trip to Las Vegas this October 2004 with some friends for our 40th birthdays and wanted to know about nearly all the subjects covered in this book. I thought the information was well presented and along with some help from the WEB I have now put together very good itinery for my stay which includes best shows, restaraunts, hotels, sight seeing tours like the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. The guide also gave me a good insight into gambling. This book is worth every penny
Not for the UK traveller July 19, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Overall I was more than a little disappointed. Much of the early pages are given over to how to get a good room deal if booking within the US, plus lots of ratings & scores on the individual hotels - not much use if you've already booked a long-haul package deal!I was hoping for more detail about things like the various helicopter trips, whether to book trips & shows ahead or wait till you arrive etc. Some helpful information to help you plan your schedule in advance & choose what shows to see, but otherwise only so-so.
good but not essential March 1, 2002 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I thought this book was good but some things were not necessary, i bought it because we are getting married in April and was hoping for lots of info on weddings, but there was nothing, not even a mention, the book was good in respect to telling people about the shows and various restaurants in Las Vegas and gambling but it went into that in great detail, ok if thats what you are going for, but again i was hoping for info on weddings and never got anthing
Great book for Vegas August 5, 1999 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
I buy a current copy of this book each time I go to Las Vegas.
Excellent - Buy it if you do not have a recent version March 7, 1999 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
We originally bought the 1996 version of this book before our first trip to Las Vegas. We used it as a bible of sorts. We found its reviews to be on target. The authors are not afraid to give advice on where not to go and what not to see. It rates hotels, casinos, restaurants, shows and about anything else you could want rated. It also provides the basics of gambling and even gives tips for planning your trip. We have since made Las Vegas our adult vacation spot, a place we go without the kids once a year. We always bring the book and read it ahead of time. We decided to get the latest 1999 edition prior to the trip we are taking in about a month. The book has only minor changes since 1996 and does not have much of anything on any new hotels which opened after New York/New York. The shows information is pretty much identical to the 1996 edition, save a few new shows. My suggestion is to buy the book if you do not have a fairly recent edition. It will more than pay for itself with excellent advice. It also helped us save about a hundred dollars by giving suggestions on booking the trip. If you have a 1996 edition or newer, you really don't need it unless you have worn your other copy out.
