5 out of 5 stars At last! Clarity and direction on the swing!   August 24, 2008
I have had many lessons over the past few years and not really gotten anywhere. Going to different tutors all the time one ends up with many swing changes and traits that counter each other.

This book has revolutionised my game and altered my swing to how it should be. After reading the book I opted for the one-plane swing based on my physical make up and traits from previous lessons.

As I conducted the drills and read the book I realised that my teachers had incorporated parts of both the one and two plane swings, hence me not progressing. It seems that the pros have not grasped the basics outlined in this book and have therfore been teaching the wrong drills.

For example, on the one -plane swing you should have a slightly closed club face when the left arm is horizontal in the back swing. I'd always been taught that the toe should be facing skyward with the club face facing fwd (ie not tilted back/fwd but club square). This is not the case. The face should remain slightly closed until the top part of the swing.

The book goes into great detail and can become overly technical. The pictures are black and white and could be better but overall the direction is first class.

If you have been struggling with your swing- YOU NEED THIS BOOK- don't have any more lessons with your Pro!

This book and Jim Hardy's swing organizing theory are works of genius. I have read the books of all the top coaches on the golf digest list as well as the classic Homer Kelley, Earnest Jones, Mickey Wright, Hogan everything i can get my hands on. This book is the only true swing theory i have read. Everything else really is a method for producing a swing. This book is about why as well as how. It will allow you to disregard the elements of your swing that you thought were what you are supposed to do. It is interesting that Jim Hardy is now in the top ten on the golf digest list of teachers. Every golf pro i ask has never heard of Jim Hardy. Maybe that is why i am always hearing them give people advice which is just plain wrong. Read this book it is the greatest golf book ever written.

I would also highly recommend the DVD.

5 out of 5 stars Essential Reading For All Golfers   April 18, 2007

I have bought and read the golf books of all the top coaches plus all the greats from the past, Earnest Jones, Homer Kelly and this book is the best golf book ever written. As with Jim Hardy's first book it will allow you to take technique and tips from any pro and know whether it will work with your swing. However, this book goes one step further. Where as the first book sought to describe the two prototypical swing types this book will allow you to implement them yourself. There are lots of drills and photo's of the positions but more importantly Hardy has saved all his secrets for this book. It not only tells you exactly what you should do but why. It just makes everthing more fun because you understand it. It won't disapoint you.
