BRILLIANT!! July 2, 2008 honestly one of my favourite books of all time. Really changed my attitude to be even more positive, and do things that you may not particularly feel like doing, cos it will usually be brilliant. inspiring, and all round brilliant. can't recommend it enough.
Could only manage twenty pages.... June 2, 2008 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
because I was utterly bored and frustrated by this book. It is so self indulgent as not to be believed. I just didn't find it funny. Maybe cos I am not a bloke (it's blokey all right). How he could fill a whole book up with this scenario beggars belief. I was sick of me me me me me me and me, not doing much, getting paid lots for it. Yawn.
Davina McCall likes it !!! So should you ? May 30, 2008 An enjoyable bit of light reading. I nearly threw it away a couple of times in the middle as the plot became a little weak and meandering and I felt I should be reading something a little more meaningful. Then I remembered I was on holiday and was supposed to be having fun not following the path to enlightenment ! A good book for what it is ie.light entertainment. The only reason I didn't give it 4 and a half stars (besides the obvious amazon limitation) was because of the Davina McCall quote on the front. If I'd have seen her name on the book I wouldn't have bought it !!
So glad I said YES to Danny Wallace! May 11, 2008 Oh my god, I have never laughed out loud so much reading a book. I kept getting funny looks on the plane to Spain last week! I got home on Friday and straight away ordered Join Me and Random Acts of Kindness and I cannot wait to read more about Danny's adventures!
Disappointing April 28, 2008 1 out of 9 found this review helpful
This book has attracted an overwhelming number of good reviews. Mine isn't one of them. Danny Wallace, a sometime BBC producer, writes in a juvenile fashion about a sub-schoolboy philosophy supposedly passed on to him by a mysterious sage. No wonder the BBC has become dumbed down. I am afraid his much praised humour is entirely lost on me. Not a titter passed my lips. Sorry Danny. I am sure your next work will sell by the million, but I won't be buying it.
