Dreadful October 20, 2008 I have struggled to turn any pages of this novel, i have enjoyed many Cussler novels. I have got to page 437 and i have had enough, i have been bored and have decided to give the book away to a colleague because I can stand no more. The plot is weak and unbelievable i look forward to picking up another novel that will keep me interested
Pretty fast paced September 27, 2008 The Skeleton Coast was an improvement over the last one of his that I read, The Treasure of Khan. This was back to Cussler being fast paced and unbelievable as ever, but an easy, quick and enjoyable read. Recommended if you want something which isn't going to tax the brain.
Good adventure book September 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good adventure book, a nice little warm up to serious summer holiday reading. This book will not challenge and is pretty gripping. Juan Cabrillo as as all action wonder-man is a bit annoying after a while to be honest, but the book is well written and the story is ok.
Excellent read at last September 11, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well this book was a real surprise, as I tend to buy Clive Cussler books to fill in between good books. I'm not saying his previous books are rubbish but I guess they would command 3-4 stars at best.
This book is a real page turner and a thoroughly good read. It still is written in the American BS style, and you do have to take the laughably coincidental twists in the plot (read it you'll know what I mean) with a pinch of salt. However this book hangs together better than most of his previous books (I have not read all).
However I note 1 review giving this 1 star and all books are very subjective to the reader. Buy it, read it and let yourself be immersed in a jolly good tale.
Very disappointing July 30, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've been a Cussler fan for over 30 years and have hugely enjoyed most of his books but this was a real stinker. The science regarding the hurricane generator was nonsense and it felt like it had been sponsored by ESSO or George Bush. Perhaps I'm just getting too old for this stuff...
