Sensitive, poignant, enjoyable November 6, 2008 I guess it all depends what you like to read, but I was attracted to this book by the title and the cover ... and from that, it was exactly how I hoped it would be. I found myself quite involved with the book and the characters and found the story to be understanding, poignant and very enjoyable.
Let down!! August 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book has no strong plot, the characters are under developed and the last few chapters are very strange. Furthermore, if you want to experience the symptoms of clinical depression, read this book! A total utter waste of time...it certainly doesnt deserve a second chance!
Not as good as I'd hoped August 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was given this book as a birthday present and was really looking forward to reading it after having enjoyed previous Jane Green novels and generally being a fan of easy to read 'chick-lit' but I was left a bit disappointed. I found myself not really caring about what happened to any of the characters - except Paul and Anna who I liked. Like other reviewers, I thought that the idea of old friends getting back in touch was a good one but so much more could have been done. In the end I just skip-read it really quickly to get it finished.
A MUST READ FOR ANY CHICK LIT FAN!!! August 8, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well I must say after reading all the other reviews for this i am dissapointed! in the so called jane green fans not the book!! I thought this was brilliant as all her books are! The story was believable the charactors likeable and the fact it was not based on just 2 main charactors as most books are made it even better! I read this book from start to finish over one weekend as I literally could not put it down!
please do not listen to the other reviews and give it a chance its an amazing read!!!
A depressing drag July 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was a real drag to get through. It took ages to "take off" and when it did, it only seemed to last for a few pages. The funeral/mourning storyline took up almost half of the book. Yes, these things happen, but why depress the reader by going on and on and on about it. The characters were unoriginal and outright boring, the ending predictable. No feel good factor there when getting to the last page, except perhaps relief that it's over.
