Tissues needed! October 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I took this book into hospital when I was having an OP. I read it non stop for 6 hours and all the nurses were coming in to make sure I was ok as I kept crying, I said its fine I am not in pain, its this book. OMG what an amazing book, it really moved me,especially as I lost my own dear mum to cancer (brain tumour)and mum left me letters. I could really identify with the characters. It is the best book I have ever read. The nurses at the nuffield hospital at wexham now have it, as they couldn't wait to read it after my glowing review! BUY THIS BOOK!
Americanisms October 13, 2008 I enjoyed the story although there were a few too many Americanisms (in an essentially middle-England story) for my liking. I could have "gotten" used to these I suppose, but I would have preferred the novel without their jarring note. Easy, light reading though, and on a par with her other novels.
Worth reading October 12, 2008 This book is really heart felt and tells the story of a family dealing with the death of the mother. It isn't all weepy or too full on. It's a feel good story about moving on and not dwelling on the past which is something everyone will experience.
