I took this book into hospital when I was having an OP. I read it non stop for 6 hours and all the nurses were coming in to make sure I was ok as I kept crying, I said its fine I am not in pain, its this book. OMG what an amazing book, it really moved me,especially as I lost my own dear mum to cancer (brain tumour)and mum left me letters. I could really identify with the characters. It is the best book I have ever read. The nurses at the nuffield hospital at wexham now have it, as they couldn't wait to read it after my glowing review! BUY THIS BOOK!

3 out of 5 stars Americanisms   October 13, 2008
I enjoyed the story although there were a few too many Americanisms (in an essentially middle-England story) for my liking. I could have "gotten" used to these I suppose, but I would have preferred the novel without their jarring note. Easy, light reading though, and on a par with her other novels.

4 out of 5 stars Worth reading   October 12, 2008
This book is really heart felt and tells the story of a family dealing with the death of the mother. It isn't all weepy or too full on. It's a feel good story about moving on and not dwelling on the past which is something everyone will experience.
