5 out of 5 stars A trip down memory lane   October 30, 2008

I saw this book in a well known book shop, and bought it on Amazon at a fraction of the price, top marks to Amazon.
This book takes you back to the days of your childhood, with great humour and sentiment, whilst waking up the grey matter at the same time.
It is amazing just how much of the book relates to my learning at school, and will no doubt stand me in good stead, when my children's homework becomes challening!! It is a great reference book, I will be back to order more at Christmas to give out to friends and family.
A superb book.

I bought this book for a friends birthday who absolutely loved it, so much so I'm now going to buy it for all my relatives this Christmas. I love the quizzes in the book, and it is genuinely amazing to have all the things you learnt at school come flooding back. I can't recommend Homework for Grownups highly enough. Buy it!

5 out of 5 stars The Perfect Present   September 16, 2008

I bought this book for my dad and he thinks it's marvellous. It's a very handsome looking thing that's crammed full of interesting, useful and entertaining facts. It really is just the ticket for that 'tricky-to-buy' present.

3 out of 5 stars A real nostalgia trip...   September 15, 2008

This little book really took me back to my school days and all the information we were expected to understand and remember which, apart from the three R's, proved to be of very little use in the real world but I suppose it demonstarted an ability to learn. It would have been a great help, as a child, to have the book handy to explain some of the basic facts and fundamentals which were seldom properly explained to us at school.
It must have been very difficult to know what to include in the book, how detailed it should be and what to omit. For instance the Black Death is covered but as yet I have not found mention of the Great Plague. I was also somewhat baffled by the use of BCE and CE relating to dates in the history section rather than the more commonly use BC and AD. Reference to a dictionary revealed the meaning of the terms but I learnt history in BPC days.
All in all a good book and well worth the price asked by Amazon, A great book to give as a Christmas present.
