Bad beyond belief May 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Andrisani brings new depth of meaning to 'superficial' in his latest 'instant' book. Content is, as with Andrisani's 'Hogan' book, misleading and wrong. Rubbish. Avoid.
Awful. An article strung out over 100+ pages. Poor. September 13, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I can not be scathing enough about this book. A huge waste of money that makes me feel an idiot for buying it. I mean 'huge' waste, because this book is of no value what-so-ever.
This is a truly awful book.
Incredibly badly written. I mean that in the strongest possible terms.
I have had the misfortune to own (or be given as gifts) three of the authors previous books, 'Play the Tiger Woods Way' and 'How I play golf' and 'The Four Cornerstones of Winning Golf'. Most of the content in all these books you can find anywhere as standard instruction so that's ok, however the presentation and shoddy writing make you want to use this book as a door-stop and let the instruction down.
Andrisani writes of Tiger Woods like he is his own personal demi-God (and in one book written just after Tiger won the 1997 Masters, 'Play the Tiger Woods Way' he has an absurd ranking system out of ten, for things like 'Iron play', 'Driver Distance: Superlong, the longest ever' - which is not true; in which Tiger scores his personal rank of TEN in every category!!!) Laughable stuff really.
But this book is utter, utter rubbish in comparison to his previous 'efforts'. The book contains words like 'Superpowerful' and 'Superlong' [sic]. It has black and white pencil-line-style illustrations that have been lifted from his previous two books that I have mentioned. He takes 80 pointless words, smothers it in hyperbole and passes it off as good writing. The book begins with an obscure quote that looks like he googled 'obscure quotes' to make himself sound eloquent and then fitted a load of nonsense about Mr Woods around it. The photos - and here is the crucial bit - are taken from amateurish and peculiar angles to it is impossible to verify Andrisani's claims. As this is the key to the book, it's a massive flaw. There is no target reference point in the pictures so we can refer Woods' aim-lines to verify if his stance is open or closed or square. No proof of the shape, trajectory and type of shot. Maybe Woods has changed his swing, or maybe he's just hitting a fade? It is impossible to tell.
