4 out of 5 stars A good A-level history book   August 25, 2004

Since the changes of Curriculum 2000 were introduced to A-level studies, few comprehensive text books have been written to suit either AS or A2 in this field of history. This book is one of the few and it was a fantastic help for my A2 exam. It provided all the background reading I needed and explained all the concepts and theories I needed to know. Although it wasn't specific to my exam board and the exercises were different to my actual exam, to some students these will be helpful and can easily be ignored by the rest. My only wish is that it had been published a year earlier so I could have used it for my AS module too!

5 out of 5 stars Suprisingly Good Book for a Study Text   August 11, 2001

This is an excellent book, with lots of very challenging and observant questions. Particularly good in reflecting the controversy amongst historians. Really gets under the skin of the subject and makes it clear the different events and players who underminded the Weimar Republic, especially role of Hindenburg. Good for study, and good also for self-learning.

5 out of 5 stars The perfect study guide for any student historian.   April 1, 2001

I bought this book at the start of my A level course, and I have found it far more useful than anything at my school. Each section of modern German history is split up into small sections, with fact boxes, key questions, character profiles and charts/tables to liven up the text. The information is clear and concise, and because of its format is perfect for revision as well. I have got more out of this book than I ever thought I would, and I recommend it to anyone studying Germany in the modern era.
