5 out of 5 stars Heartrending, but ultimately uplifting   September 5, 2008
I cried buckets when I read of Kim's childhood. I find it astonishing that some women lucky enough to become mothers can behave so appallingly to their children. Just as surprising is the fact that they get away with it. It's not easy to shake off this kind of cruelty without being scarred. Well done Kim for managing to leave her past behind and building a good life for herself. She sounds like a lovely lady who so deserves some good fortune. Best wishes to her.

4 out of 5 stars A moving story told very honestly   August 15, 2008

I really enjoyed this very moving and easy to empathize with autobiography of Kim's.From her loveless and abusive childhood, through her troubled and abusive love life,up to her successful and contented life today,Kim tells the tale in her characteristic, very matter of fact, down to earth tone.I really liked her unbreakable spirit and strong sense of principle which she stuck to in spite of the constant adversity in her life.

5 out of 5 stars Entertaining and honest   July 4, 2008

Even if you don't know or care who this lady is, the story of her struggle in her earlier life makes impressive reading material.

Interestingly there are no photographs bar the ones on the cover. Autobiographies nearly always carry a section of pictures to help the reader with the time of life of the subject.

I also would have liked to hear more about the 11 years that Kim and Peter spent in the USA and why they decided to come back when they did. I am pleased that she has found it easier and less of a finacial struggle in her later years. Also what do the remaining family think of her rise to fame? Do they still snub her as they used to?

All in all a good read, which I found satisfying.

5 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT !   January 23, 2008

I loved kim`s sense of fun before i read this book - and after reading it i thought `how on earth does this woman manage to keep on smiling and laughing...?`
She truly is an inspiration to us all. She had such a tragic childhood, her teen years were an utter nightmare, and it went on and on, until you thought ` when is she going to get a break..? `
She did get a break - as we all know - and my God did she deserve it !
Well done kim, keep living life to the full, and keep laughing !
You`re great - you really are !

5 out of 5 stars Unputdownable and inspirational   January 7, 2008

This is a very honest and heartrending story but also an inspirational one to those of us that have survived abusive relationships. I read this book in one day as I felt I had to know what happened next - how she got through the next day , the next month or the next year. There is indeed a happy ending and whilst the scars of abuse never leave the lessons one learns from them stay and the courage in surviving them gives real hope to all. This is such an honest and straightforward book and will touch the hearts of all who read it.
