Hugely disappointed! March 24, 2008 I have always been a big fan of Julie Garwood, impatiently waiting for her next book. I was looking forward to Noah's story. His character in her previous books was always interesting, challenging and his personality bigger than life. He seems to be such a unique character. When the book came out, I could not wait to read it and discover more about Noah. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was hugely disappointed. I won't talk about the plot not to ruin your reading but it all lacks depth and the character, in my opinion, were not up to her usual standard. I could not get into the story while before I would devour her books without being able to put them down.
Disappointment plus December 31, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading the other reviews I wondered whether I had read the same book! After waiting months for this book's arrival I was monumentally disappointed. The storyline was tedious with characters being weak and rather bland. I was so looking forward to finding out more about Noah after being teased with his appearance in other books but his story gave very little away about the man. The story centers around a history professor and his arrival at Dylan & Kate's wedding. After being challenged by Noah to step out of her controlled and rather lifeless life, Jordan decides to pursue the professor to a small town in Texas and find out more about his research and theories. Dead bodies start appearing and Jordan's life seems to be in danger. This is the basis of the plot, I thought the chemistry between Noah and Jordan was non-existent and was glad when I read the last chapter which culminated in a weak ending. Maybe diehard Garwood fans will be pleased with this latest edition, me, I'm sticking to Gennita Low - highly recommended!
This book is a romance and thriller at once December 29, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Add in some contemporary shake, and you've got Shadow Dance. I rather liked that the title is a play on Jordan's father's situation (bodyguards shadowing his every step) inadvertently happening to her when she finds the dead body of a historian she's met two days prior in the trunk of her car and her brother Nick and Noah Clayborne, two FBI agents, fly at her aid. Hence, being shadowed by bodyguards of sort. Then Nick has to leave, for matters unknown, and suddenly begins a dance of should-shouldn'ts with Noah even as they try to find the real murderer, who proves to be one heck of a surprise.
This is a great read, and I found it refreshing, witty and intelligent and less tedious than some of her previous works. The writing is fast-paced, which makes sense as this is a thriller as well, and Jordan and Noah's relationship does not bloom quite as suddenly as has been said. Re-reading through it, you'll find that Noah unknowingly had feelings WAY before they even began *cough* dancing. Anyway, hopefully we'll get to read more about Jordan and Noah and their treasure hunt! I would also recommend, if you missed reading Tino Georgiou's masterpiece--The Fates, go and read it.
A fun romantic suspence March 24, 2007 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
I wasn't quite sure about this to start off with, however by the second or third chapter it takes off. This is Jordan and Noah's story. Jordan is determined that she is not going to be one of the scalps on Noah's bedpost. He is handsome, sexy, charming and a good friend, however she is not attracted to him in any physical or romantic way, or so she tells herself and he tells himself the same about her. She is his friend's sister after all.
A strange professor of medieval history invades Jordan's brother's wedding. He states that the couple should not really be getting married as their two ancient Scottish clans have been feuding since medieval times and he has the research to prove it. Also, he claims that Jordan's family were the ones at fault, not the clan McKenna. Goaded by Noah and her brother Nick and irritated by the professor, computer geek Jordan decides to travel to Texas to check out the professor's research. Once she reaches Serenity, dead bodies keep turning up in the boot of her car. Enter the protective FBI agent, Noah.
Loved it January 29, 2007 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I was really looking forward to Noah,s story the little snippets in her other books really teasing me I was dying to meet him .I wasn,t dissapointed the relationship between Noah And Jordan was so hot and so funny.I love the humour in Julie Garwood books and this book was right up there.
It was fun watching Noah gradually realise he was in love with Jordan also the relationship Jordan developed with the townspeople made for some sweet and poignant moments so it had a feelgood factor to go with the sizzle.
