5 out of 5 stars A Howling Good Tale   August 8, 2008

I have to agree with the two previous reviews Karen MacInerney has created a fast paced and fun story that takes off as soon as you read the first page. She has created a wonderful world that mirrors our own with the inclusion of supernatural creatures.

Sophie Garou has a good life, great job working for a prestigious accounting firm, lovely best friend Lindsey who has Angelina Jolie's face and lips and a handsome boyfriend Heath who has aspirations for a political future. There is just a couple of slight problems, excessive hair growth (she should consider buying shares in Bic or Lady shaver) and she turns into a werewolf - no big deal.

The story starts out with Sophie's mother a wacky Rom (Gypsy) witch in jail accused of murdering a congressman with a poisoned love potion. The police firmly believe that Sophie's mother is the murderer and are not looking into any more leads in the case so it is up to Sophie and Lindsey to try and track down the real killer. Add into the mix a handsome werewolf Tom who sets all of Sophies animal urges into overdrive and you have a great read.

I will be looking forward to the next in the series and if the second book is as good as the first I will be looking forward to the third.

4 out of 5 stars Great Read   April 22, 2008

This is a new and very promising author that has just come out with a werewolf series. I just couldn't but the book down. You had a good mix with detective work, romance, chick moments and best of all hot lust. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because there was just not enough of encounters with Tom. Which I think it was a smart move on the authors' part. Cos you just keep on reading, wanting to know what happens next when the two meet again. But it also gives the reader the chance to get to know the characters better than dropping them into a situation where majority of people will frown upon considering it is the first book in the series. But over all the book was written very well and can't wait for the next one too come out to see what happens to the steamy relationship with Sophie and Tom.

I am happy to announce that I have found a new werewolf series! 'Howling at the Moon' is the first in a trilogy and if the first book is anything to go by it will be a wonderful 3 books that I hope will grow into another series or a few more books!

Sophie Garou has everything : A great job, great clothes & a terrific boyfriend. However there is a slight problem...Sophie is a werewolf and when she has her time of the month you have more than a few mood swings to put up with!

She has been coping really well with the help of her human/witch mother. She cooks up enough Wolfsbane tea to keep things under control. However 4 times a year she has to make the change and that time is nearly here which is why Sophie isn't too pleased when she finds out it is also her one year anniversary and her boyfriend has plans for them. She is even less pleased to find that her mother is in prision for murder. Throw in some suspicious packages, a hot werewolf called Tom and a crazy secretary and Sophie has her work cut out for her.

This was a brilliant read and even though it was a little chick-lit like at times it was actually very supernatural Stephanie Plum. I really like the characters and the storyline was really good. I am looking forward to part two in this series 'On the Prowl' which is due out in Autumn. Maybe someone wants to send me an ARC for that one??? I am totally impressed!
