4 out of 5 stars Edge of your seat thriller!   December 17, 2007
Thunderhead was the first novel by Preston and Child that i read and since this i've read everything they've written.

There's no messing around with these two, from the opening page's you are straight in the middle of the action and it doesn't relent until the finish. Thunderhead is an action-adventure, with plenty of mystery involved and has a supernatural feel to it aswell.

The story is set in the Utah desert and the hunt is on for the lost Anasazi city, rumoured to be paved in gold.

I only kept it at 4 star's as the two novel's after this, Cabinet of curiosities and Still life with Crows, are even better.

A very enjoyable read.

I have only read three books including this one by this duo but I can guarantee that you will never be disappointed with something they write. What I like about their style of writing is that they make it very easy for the reader to imagine the landscape where the novel is taking place. This book is based in the utah desert and they convey a fantastic atmosphere which makes for an enjoyable read. I also like the way that the authors place a supernatural element to what is essentially a treasure hunting adventure book. The characters in the book are very easy to relate to and it is only when the book comes towards its finish that you work out their true intentions. Although I managed to guess what was going to happen at the end of the book this certainly didn't deter me from finishing it and anyway I couldn't and didn't work exactly how those events would happen. In summary I would urge people to definately read this book but be prepared for some very late nights as it is simple impossible to put down.

This is a great book. A great story with great characters...

There is action, mistery and a load of suspense always edging the supernatural but with a strong scientific backbone.

5 out of 5 stars Well, they've done it again!   June 28, 2000

Whenever Preston and Child team up to write a book you can guarantee it'll be a winner. Having read all the previous novels I just had to get my hands on their latest release - not yet available in the UK. To my delight Thunderhead is every bit as exciting and tense as their other offerings. The pace is set at the beginning and doesn't relent, steeped in truth and realism a spell is weaved over the reader and he/she is immersed in a story of family, friends and a fight for survival. Once more, the evils from man's past are pitted against the ingenuity of his future - who will win? Read it and find out - an absolute must for anyone's bookshelf. I can't wait for 'The Ice Limit'.

This should be a best seller. I read it in two nights, could hardly put it down. Archaeology & witchcraft, a great combination!
