Of the guide books I bought for planning my 2 months in China this is the one I found the most useful. The Star ratings, 'finds' comments etc were all really useful - including their frank assessment of accommodation across all price ranges. If there's one fault, it's that there are no pictures/colour plates in the book. However having bought a copy of the BBC's Wild China: The Hidden Wonders of the World's Most Enigmatic Land too this wasn't much of a hinderance.
