Good piccies May 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I think many radiographers and ot's will have been involved with the images in this book as we were frequently called upon to take the photo's for the surgeons. If you like the pics says thanks to those who took them. Pete really knows his stuff and if you need a source of excellent reference then this book is for you.
A thorough and comprehensive book - ideal for trainees! December 26, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having ordered and bought this book before its broader circulation (November 2006), I have had plenty of time to read it thoroughly and scrutinize its content. I was really impressed by: -the comprehensive division of its structure, -its easily accessible content (succinct and unvarying style of expression, well defined terms and step-by-step explanation of the procedures), -its accurate and quite descriptive coloured figures and X-rays, as well as -its applicability to a large number of surgical interventions in orthopaedics, apparently a product of a long-term experience on the relevant topics.
Moreover, I was delighted to learn that this book was recently counted among the Winners of The Society of Authors and The Royal Society of Medicine Book Awards 2007 (winner of the "900 Prize for a New Edited Book retailing at less than 75")!
For all the above reasons, I warmly recommend this book to the trainees in orthopaedics!
Only for beginners December 9, 2007 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have to admit I do not own this book. I only read the preview chapter (fractures of the clavicle). If the whole book is written in a similar fashion, I have to say, this is a book for medical students, maybe F1-2s; basic, slightly outdated information, nice colour photos. My advice for a Registrar: don't waste your money on this!
good basic book September 29, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
very goodbook for those commencing orthopaedic career & for quick reference but very basic, some missing topics!
Leave it in theatre! May 28, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
A fantastic book. Lots of photographs of proceedures. Takes you through from history and examination through to how to set up, position and drape the patient and then the proceedure itself. Great for teaching F1's, F2's and SHO's about a proceedure before the operation.
