Perfect for OCR August 5, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is written for the OCR syllabus, and is therefore perfect for it. Nearly everyone in my class had a copy. The exam questions are past paper questions, or at least written by the same people who set the exams.
I found this book really useful, as is the A2 version: Chemistry 2. I got an A in Chemistry and this books helped towards it. In fact my own teacher said if somebody read the book and tried to remember it, they could get a C without even going to class.
waste of time and money January 26, 2006 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
this book is a complete waste of time and money. instead of helping with topics it simply confuses. it contains lots of useless information. for help with as chemistry buy the Revise AS Biology for OCR revision guide by Richard Fosbery, Jennifer Gregory, Ianto Stevens. the a2 revision guide is brilliant as well. they tell you exactly what you need to know and no more.
USELESS!!!This book is a waste of money January 13, 2005 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this book because my college instructed me that this was the one that was right for the OCR syllabus. But my tutor has long since abandoned the use of it! Everything you need to know is in it, but also lots of other stuff to confuse you. *It is not set out in a clear way and is very wordy. *If you want to know how to calculations it is absolutely rubbish! doesnt tell u what they mean or where numbers come from. *the end of chapter questions are useless- theres no answers for them!By the Letts AS chemistry revision guide instead.
Great June 14, 2004 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Yep, a good book. As with all in this series, topics are well explained, with diagrams/charts/etc. It contains everything you need for the 3 OCR AS chemistry modules.
Chemistry Lacking March 11, 2004 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As far as chemistry texts books go, this may be one of the better ones. As with the rest of the textbooks in this series, it is well laid out with plenty of diagrams. The best part of this book is the way that there is a list of, "Things You Should Know By The End Of This Chapter" and excellent chapter summaries. These two things make self teaching of chemistry a lot easier. It wouldn't hurt for the author to find some humour in a seemingly unfunny subject though! It is a good buy.
