5 out of 5 stars The Nighingale definately sang to me!   September 27, 2006

Thank you, thank you Charlotte for continuing dear Cassie's story. I adored To hear a nightingale and was thrilled when the sequel appeared. Again, I laughed and cried at this tale, could visualise the characters, scenery and the story and could quite cheerfully do damage to "dear Leonora" if I ever came into contact with her!! I have read and re-read both books and are my staple "if I have a spare moment" books. They are well thumbed with many a page corner turned over. I enjoyed every moment of them and will do so again and again.

One of the best books which you'll ever read. This book will make you laugh and cry as well as touch your heart. Clearly, Ms.Bingham will pull your heartstrings!

3 out of 5 stars Not a patch on 'To Hear a Nightingale'   January 7, 2000

Personally speaking the former book 'To Hear a Nightingale' kept me captivated with Cassie's unbelieveably traumatic childhood, her fairly tale romance and later career. Read to Hear a Nightingale before you start this. Likewise to 'To Hear a Nightingale' Cassie has a rough time throughout the book what with her lovers, her children and of course the horses. Furthermore the battle continues with Cassie's enemy from childhood, Leonora. However new love and hope does present itself for Cassie with the author focusing at times on Cassie's recovery in love as a widow.

Cassie's profession as a race horse trainer, allied with its uncertainties, kept me entertained for parts of the book without a doubt, together with the trials and tribulations of the 'Nightingale', the prized race horse. However, the story was not captivating for me, rather just a read to see what happened at the end.
