This was the first veggie cookbook I bought way back in the early 80's - it was fantastic then, especailly as I'd just started Uni and didnt know how to ccok well. I recently started using it again especially for salad sauces and nut roasts. I still make the carrot and cinnamon cake . It is still the best/most useful vegetarian cookbook I have ever bought.

I first saw Sarah Brown on TV back in the 80s and rushed out to buy her book. I had three small children at the time and wanted to feed them some GOOD food.
I've used it, pushed it to the back of my stack of cookery books, unearthed it, pushed it back, unearthed it. In other words, fashions come and go, yet 'Vegetarian Kitchen' has become a classic in my everchanging circumstances. Her macaroni cheese is simple yet inspired. The winter casserole with chestnuts, mushrooms and brussels sprouts superb. The cashew nut and parnsip (PARSNIP!)roast scrumptious.
