Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
A Brit's Guide to Orlando, Florida and Walt Disney World 2000 is no "fish and chips and a decent bacon sandwich" approach to Orlando. It's a well-written, informative and concise guide that deserves a wider audience than "Brits" alone.

The level of detail, the genuinely helpful tips and the money-saving recommendations the author has included, make this a critical addition to your holiday planning. Nor is it only useful to those travelling in family groups (though this is certainly the author's primary focus, and his approach to this audience can't be faulted), for there is still enough additional information on eating out, nightlife and entertainment to make the guide very attractive to other holiday-makers.

While the book is written from the fair assumption that a couple of days in the famous theme parks will form the backbone of a holiday in Florida, there is a wealth of detail on shopping and destinations more "off the beaten track". Maps are good and plentiful (although it may be best to have an additional one handy for really detailed information) and there is an honest account of issues that can face tourists (from car crime to tipping). The Holiday Planner at the back of the book (two example itineraries for a fortnight's stay, complete with notes, plus a blank example for you to make your own plans) is an inspired touch. In short, this reviewer can't imagine a better guide to this eternally popular holiday destination. --Richard Kelly

5 out of 5 stars Do not attempt to go to the sunshine state without this book   January 13, 2002
Brilliant, it was our first visit to the usa never mind to the mind blowing land of Mickey Mouse, Shamu the Killer Whale and Universal. I knew we needed some reading material to help us plan our holiday of a lifetime and we luckily chose this book. It was our lifeline for the whole 2 weeks it helped us drive on the roads, fill up with petrol, find the best shops and of course informed us of all the amazing rides and characters to see at the theme parks. It is also very informative for people traveling with little ones as it points out the suitability of the rides. An absolute must to pack in your hand luggage worth its wait in gold.

I would recommend this book to anyone going to Orlando, without any hesitation.

We used it last year for our first two week trip and were the envy of our friends upon return because this book guided us to many gems that they had missed.

Many of our friends have now bought the book and we will use it again this year.

Fantastic!!

5 out of 5 stars A superb, practical reference book.   November 20, 2000
Our family purchased this book some months before we travelled to give us a 'feel' for where we were going. None of us had been before and only knew what we had been told by friends.

The practical advice provided throughout the book is obviously an amalgamation of not just the author's experiences but many other travellers. Things as basic as planning your itinery before you go so that you have an idea what you want to see without wasting time; when the busy times for each theme park are; what rides to target on arrival etc.

The food guides were excellent, providing rough cost guides and what to expect as far as content and service.

The book is written in a format that isn't at all condescending and can also be read from cover to cover so that the traveller knows exactly what to expect.

Most of the 'Brit Tips' were useful and written in a friendly, humourous way.

We would recommend this book to any first-time traveller to Orlando and even to previous visitors so that they are aware of what else is out there!

5 out of 5 stars This quickly became our bible.   September 27, 2000
We first visited Florida in 1998 and bought that years edition before we left home and studied it thoughly for advice on when, what and how to see Florida and it never let us down. Our second visit was in April 2000 and as soon as able bought the 2000 edition and like the first visit this book NEVER let us down. On both visits it became the family bible and we never stepped outside without it tucked under an arm.

5 out of 5 stars The only book you will need   September 10, 2000
I can, wholeheartedly, recommend this book to all, especially to families. I followed the advice and successfully planned my theme park itinerary around the "quiet" days. It helped to focus our vists otherwise we would have wandered around the theme parks, unsure of the best ride. Excellent.
