5 out of 5 stars Relevant, detailed text to support AS level Geog for Edexcel   December 21, 2000
8 out of 8 found this review helpful

Having used a number of books to teach the 'old' A level Landforms module, this new book edited by Chief Examiner for Edexcel, Sue Warn provides a wealth of information and case studies. The sections closely follow the syllabus and appear propriate for for the new AS level exam. Students find the content accessible and the case studies cover a variety of locations including a detailed look at the Dorset coast, used by many for fieldwork and as their extended coastline. The sand dune ecosystem study relates to Oxwich Bay, a pity it's not Studland. However, the topic is covered thoroughly. The chapters on rural/urban environments use up-to-date data on mobile phone coverage as one way of defining rurality and again a variety of relevant and diverse case studies are used to underpin the concepts. The students valued this book so much that someone has taken my personal copy.....I value it so much I'm buying another!
