Worth the effort of the first couple of chapters... October 28, 2000
This was sort of like driving by a car accident - tragic, damaged people, twisted metal (a chandelier) you know your stomach will lurch when you look, the hair stands up on your neck, but you have to look - you want to know what happed,how did it happen. The first few chapters were a little confusing, all the characters (and there's quite a few) introduced not as coherently as you'd like. But Fyfield has a way of creating characters that while you may not like them, you gotta find out what happens to them. An English seaside village, a less than inviting church-cum-apartment, diamonds - of course, we're headed for a murder - or two - or three. A very compelling read once all the characters have been arranged in your head. And the ending has more turns and twists then a chandelier!
