5 out of 5 stars As the 'blurb' says: "Hooray, Sophie Kinsella is back."   June 13, 2007

I must admit I picked this up thinking it was something to do with Nigella Lawson, then I saw that it was written by Sopihe Kinsella. I love her 'Shopaholic' books, and this is in a similar vein, that is to say the heroine's life is totally out of her control, but this time it is work and not money causing the problems. She is always at the office, has no social or family life as a result, cannot cook or keep house, lives in a permanent state of chaos and has a desk to prove it. This messy desk proves to be her downfall, as an important piece of paperwork is somehow mislaid, making her rush out of the office, jump on the first train to anywhere and thus start a totally new life completely by accident.

Sophie Kinsella depicts chaos so well, has a well observed sense of humour and always seems to place her heroines in such nightmarish situations that you cannot possibly see how they can recover. This is a great read for the beach, train, airport or for lounging on the sofa with a large G&T or glass of wine.

Enjoy.

4 out of 5 stars girlie book   August 14, 2006

the book is a light read. it tells the tale about a professional person unintentionally leaving the heavy rat race of law and falls into a profession of house keeper. this definately had me smiling and giggling. the book is well written, enough for you to put down and return hours later and get back into the plot. the books was sucessful in leaving me with a smile on my face and a feel good factor for the heroine. i would recommend it more to female company. there is no scary/murder plot to follow - just clean friendly disasters along the way.

This isn't usually my cup of tea...infact I bought this book by mistake and I'm SO glad I did because I couldn't put it down. I found myself picking it up and reading a few pages whenever I had a spare minute!
Absolutely fabulous! Five stars! a funny, well written book. The kind of book you look forward to getting home to read! Curl up on the sofa with a big bar of chocolate and enjoy.
