Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A fantastic forensic thriller!   February 25, 2008
4 out of 4 found this review helpful

This is a remarkable debut, a totally gripping thriller, detailed, tense, characterful, twisting and engrossing. It tells the tale of a forensic genius, Dr Reuben Maitland, who falls out of favour with GeneCrime, the UK's elite forensic crime squad, which he helped create. He suffers something of a breakdown when his marriage fails, not helped by too much amphetamine... These are dark times with past secrets, false trails, dangerous gangsters and evil psychopaths at every turn... The issue of DNA is highly topical and Maitland perfects the ultimate DNA crime detection device - a computer programme that creates a perfect photo-fit image of a suspect straight from their DNA traces.

I do hope we'll see more of the phenol phenomenom that is Dr Maitland in the not too distant...

5 out of 5 stars best xmas shocker   November 11, 2007

If you are buying books for xmas this year ... put this at the top of your list... fantastic ... i spent two days gripped unable to put it down. It is a well written, well constructed forensic thriller, which leaves you guessing until the final pages and then you are given a final shock. I have already pre-ordered his next book. Can't wait.

5 out of 5 stars The most unusual forensic thriller ever!!!   October 19, 2007

Wow. I will never look at Forensics again in the same way. Or scientists. Or the police. This was dark at times, and disturbing, but kept me hooked and interested all the way. More please!
