5 out of 5 stars A gift to any woman in her forties - buy it now!!   August 25, 2008

Explains, in accessible, friendly language, just what is happening, and it's effects, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. What a relief! A phrase which sticks in my mind is "the female body between 40 and 50 goes through as much change as it did between 10 and 20." This book explained why I had the feeling I had of not being the person I had been just a short time recently - and even gave me a sense of pride, serenity and excitement about the new stage opening up - that it was a beginning, not an end. There are so many losses in the 40s: kids leaving, divorce, relationships ending, job-loss, parents dying and/or becoming ill. The buck stops with us, as we have to shoulder so many problems, while also seeming to become redundant, compared to our thirties. I had suffered all of these since turning 40, while my body also seemed to 'let me down', and this book not only told me I was NORMAL, and not alone, but gave 100s of practical tips for dealing with stress, insommnia, mood swings, hot flushes, skin care, diet, exercise, supplements, lifestyle, work, sex, play etc. I can now honestly say this book gave me a new sense of purpose and serenity, and showed me the beauty of accepting this change, so I now feel I am successful at being the new 'me', not that the old 'me' has somehow gone down the pan.

5 out of 5 stars Insightful, informative and inspiring.   June 11, 1999

Every page of The Power of Perimenopause is a gift. Perimenopause was a confusing and often trying time for me. No-one prepared me for the emotional and physical rollercoaster I would be on during those critical years before "the change." I was often frightened or worried that something was wrong with me. This book clarified it all. It is beautifully written, and compelling to read. Even the science is accessible and easy to grasp. I came away from reading The Power of Perimenopause with a whole new understanding about my body. I truly felt empowered by the information in this book and all of the options it offers a woman for a healthy, happy life.

To begin, with I am going through perimenapause myself. I found her book to be very insightful to every aspect of a woman's life during this period. Stephanie writes with such understanding, wisdom and knowledge that I find myself sharing her book with everyone whom I feel would benefit, even people I barely know. It is similar to teenage years when you don't think anyone understands or is going through the same things you are, then you find out that someone does understand and has been there and done that and has suggestions to help you through it. You don't feel so alone. With Stephanie's book you know there's hope for a brighter today and tomorrow.I am looking forward to her next release.

5 out of 5 stars A revealing, thorough enterprise on perimenopause.   December 24, 1998

After hearing a very helpful lecture on perimenopause (especially the time period of several years BEFORE menopause), this book was recommended. It presents a good, down to earth explanation of some very complex issues, many of which are poorly understood by many health professional (of which I am one). I actually bought this book for my wife who had been diagnosed with anemia, depression, and stress. After following the advise in the book, I am a MUCH happier husband, and my wife is feeling healthy again. She understands what her body is going through and how to handle it. What else could you want?
