not for everyone November 2, 2008 I found this a little too time-consuming to use as a method for learning large amounts of information. Also, as I am over 50, I had to learn twice to make anything stick. Still entertaining though.

amazing - this genuinely works. I am so excited by my new-found ability to learn things, that I think I might have to go back to university, or re-take some A-levels, just to find a suitable arena to show off these astonishing memorising skills. But I will be needing many more books from Ed Cooke to help me on my way - when is the next one due!?
Some old mnemonic techniques that bear repeating October 10, 2008 Ed Cooke's little opus is a much-needed reminder of very useful mnemonic techniques, especially those which have to do with word association. This has been recommended as, for example, very useful in vocabulary recognition and learning when studying foreign languages, vocabulary being the most difficult and endless part of foreign-language learning. The more absurd, or indeed obscene, the association, the better it will be remembered. As said, a useful book, especially for students, who have a lot to remember in a short space of time. Well done Ed (was that his name?)!
Hlarious but effective! October 8, 2008 I found out about this book after I read a review of the author in a newspaper and since buying it, I have been unable to put the book down. I am never great at remembering things and now I can recite the kings and queens of England and the American presidents thanks to the paths of images that you follow. I have amazed myself about well I have done and already impressed some of my friends. On top of that the little drawings which help you throughout the book are totally awesome and super funny as well!
Brilliant! October 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is going to change the way people learn! It's just so silly, fun and informative all at the same time.
The stories take you on a virtual memory walk around your imagination, deposing information around familiar places in order that you can recall it (forwards and backwards) after your first read. Except the information is encoded in images so that a boring and difficult name like Martin Van Buren becomes a martian in a burning van... something you will remember remember for ever!
It's such a brilliant technique I feel cheated that I was never told about it at school.
Great for adults and children alike. Particularly good as an entertaining yet 'worthy' Christmas present for someone with an imagination.
