a wonderful entry to the series March 4, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
the second book in this trilogy (so far), is a wonderful continuation of the adventures of Colin and 'Tanni-- if you enjoyed Mutineer's Moon, or even if you just like other David weber books, this is sure to be a good read a satisfying book for anyone who likes space battles and engaging characters
Wow. No really, I mean it. Wow. February 10, 1999 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
What a book! Imaginative, well written, funny in places, sad in others. Why aren't David Weber's books published in England? I have to go to America to buy them! The storyline of this book was great, revolving around Colin MacIntyre's journey across the Galaxy to find more Imperial Starships to fight off the genocidal Achuultani, culminating in a really great ending. (I won't say what happens though!) The characters developed in Mutineer's Moon are explored in greater depth in this second volume of his series. Anyone reading this review- don't. Just go and buy the book. I'll give you all the encouragement you need.
Armageddon is too light a word! November 13, 1997 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Anu is down, life is good. Senior Fleet Captain Colin MacIntyre is the hero the world needed. Now his heroism is put to the test as age old enimies return, to smite Humankind once and for all. They've failed before and they plan not to do so again. As Colin sets off to search for help from the Forth Imperium , Earth preps for the threat of the Achuultani incursion that has been dreaded for tens of thousands of years. With the coming of the deadly Achuultani, it is time for Humanity to stand up and fight. The price of failure is Extinction of the Human Race. A battle of epic proportions, where you learn the true meaning of ARMAGEDDON... Join Humankind in a desperate battle against foes that have been enimies since before Earthlings were a twinkling in the Galactic Eye...
Faced with these ships, the Borg would be exterminated! August 21, 1997 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The best space warfare yarn to come around in a decade. The starship weapon systems, strategies and combat tactics described by David Weber are the most realistic I have encountered in a long time. This Imperial series is the benchmark. Even Star Trek fall short of this quality and combat realism. Give me more!!! As a former military aviation Flight Test Engineer and Operations Analysist; this future universe is presented to almost perfection. David Weber has moved the current state-of-the-art of air warfare into the region of interstellar battle.
This is one of the BEST Sci-Fi books ever written!! April 11, 1997 Fast paced, imaginative and intense, this books is a page turner that never stops for you to catch your breath! Alien ships of immense size, technology thousands of years advanced..this book has it all! Simply...the best.
