5 out of 5 stars will someone PLEASE talk to the big shots in Hollywood????   November 4, 2004

I read this book about a year ago, and I'm about to read them all again (my school library has a new copy of the hunter - I. Must. Read!). I agree with the people who say the ending was fine the way it was.
Well, in one sense it's brilliant.
In the sense that Jenny is making the right choice and it couldn't have happened any other way - ooh it's amazing.
However, (and I know everyone is saying this) I really would have given in to Julian in the corridoor of the paper house. (if it's possible to fall in love with a character from a book, i hit it 100 times over...)
The characterisation made by LJS is brilliant - they are all so believable, and Julian in perticular sends shivers down my spine every time. I - like most people on here - cried my eyes out at the end. I can just imagine it now....*gazes into space* *slaps self* Oi. Get on with the review, girl!
I laughed my ass off at a lot of this, some parts are hilarious, some parts make you cry, and some just entrance you.
A definate hit.
A must-read.
I think all the people reviewing on here should get together and write a lovely letter to a) Hollywood - for a film and b) to L.J. Smith - for a sequel or two.
We want more Julian!
Come on gals - lets start a protest!

5 out of 5 stars escapism at it's best!   September 5, 2004

Reading this book was a most pleasurable experiance, anybody who has read the trilogy will tell you. Julian the villain of the story is an intriguing, manipulative and passionate character. He is in love with a mortal called Jenny but she will not return his love because he is evil. This creates a series of events which lead Jenny and her friends in to the Shadow world, where Julian reigns. I loved this book and i'm certain anybody who reads it will feel the same. My favourite character is Julian and I sometimes wish that Jenny would give in to his charms because he loves her so much:p I certainly would! Fantastic read i would recommend buying the set of all three. I just wish they would create a movie about it, Jonathan Rhys Meyers would have to play Julian! check him out and see what I mean hehe oh yeah and happy reading! xxx

5 out of 5 stars One of the best books i have ever read   May 19, 2004

There are books and then there are books. Lisa J Smith is an excellent writer and this book is just one example of her brilliance. The story continues with jenny going back into the shadow realm. The best bit of the book is right at the end, this book really gets you emotionally involved with the characters, and you actually care about what happens to the characters. Th story line is excellent with lots of twists, and be sure to have the other books handy so you don't get confused.
Ou of all the books LJS books i've read Julian is my fav character, and got to add that Jenny was a bit stupid for chosing Tom at the end, all he evre did was love her, don't know why really, i think he deserves better.
Anyway, deifnate;ly worth a read

Warning: If you are femal and read this book, you will fall in love!!

5 out of 5 stars you HAVE TO read this book!!!   March 13, 2004

The ending of this book was so sad! I knew what would happened before I read this book, but even that didn't prepare me for what happened and like many others here, I cried!

This is an amazing book, it takes you in and wont let you stop reading until you reach the end. It was amazing seeing the way all the characters changed over time, specially Julian, he seemed to have changed alot from my memories of him from the first book. This was probably the best book in the series, it really plays with your emotions and you can feel Jenny's fear, sadness, and worry. You can also feel her love for Julian at the end, even though she knew she wouldn't be happy with him.

I strongly disagree with what many people have said about the ending being 'silly' because no one would pick Tom over Julian, but I believe that if that is what you truly think, then go back over the books. You will find that although Tom is possesive and Jenny is strong without him, neither will truly be happy without the other. And even if Jenny went with Julian, she would of had to give up everything, and I personnaly wouldn't have enjoyed the ending half as much as I had.

It was a sad ending, but a necessary one, that teaches all who read it an important lesson, you can still love someone without being with them. Jenny showed this, and it was lovely of her to wear his ring, and it was good of Tom, not to upset her about it. She may never see him again in with her eyes, but as long as she still carries her memories of him, his life would not be a waste.
