It's the Summer between 8th & 9th grade for Alice and co. February 22, 2001

I absolutely LOVE the Alice books and I think that Phyllis Reynolds Naylor is the best author ever, because she can write storylines that are humourous, serious, happy, sad, gripping, and most of all, relevant to teenagers, like me, today! The Grooming of Alice is yet another essential read for all Alice fans out there! On the first day of their Summer holidays between eighth and ninth grade, Alice, Elizabeth, and Pamela decide that it's time they got in shape. After all, as Pamela informs them both, "However you look whenever you start ninth grade, that's how people will see you for the next four years." From then on, the three friends wake up early ever morning to go for a three-mile jog. However, the Summer isn't all its cracked up to be for either of the three. I don't want to spoil any of the BRILLIANT storylines but I WILL say that problems with Pamela's parents, an unhappy Elizabeth, a hospital emergency, an engagement, an amazing body talk, Patrick's sweetness and Alice just being Alice, make this my favourite Alice book so far. So much is going on in this book that I couldn't put it down for 3hrs solid! I've written a heap of reviews for Alice books (though I haven't yet received a 50 certificate from Amazon HINT HINT AMAZON!), urging you to read Alice books but I mean it - BUY THIS BOOK FROM AMAZON! You'll not regret it if you love Alice!
