EXCELLENT - WORKS AFTER A FIRST READING May 23, 2003 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Once you've read this book, it plays in your mind. We've learnt to overeat in certain circumstances, and we have to break those connections within the brain. The book almost hypnotises you, and the record keeps playing with all the questions it raises. Questions effectively break the wiring.... And we stop overeating, eating the wrong foods, eating second portions. All the bad stuff gets hit out of play after the first reading. You just can't shake off the effect of this book.

Fabulous! If you have been caught in the dieting world for longer than you care to be......buy this book and see yourself in a completely different way! I've bought more books for weight loss than I can remember, but this is totally different!! I have also bought Gillian Riley's main book 'Eating Less' which I have just started reading. There is no 'quick fix' but a sure and solid way to get that body of yours sorted out for good...for life! Try it out for yourself! I see food in a very different way now and have stopped fighting it...I'm losing weight and caring for my health!
Encouraging, helpful and practical book May 20, 2002 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
Gillian Riley is a former overeater with a wonderfully realistic approach, which takes the pressure right off. Diets and depriving oneself is out! The advice she gives is so sensible and practical, yet goes deep down to the real issues. But without the "shoulds and oughts". Let's put it this way. This is the only book I have ever read which has actually resulted in me buying and eating healthy food, after years of meaning to do it but nothing actually changing! That has to be a good thing!
Quick reads which makes a lot of sense February 18, 2002 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
This book has been read fully once and I am re-reading it again taking time for it to sink in, but the three questions I have to ask myself have already. 1) Am I choosing 2) What is my motivation, 3) How am I responding to temptation. Interesting reading, comments about how you can get yourself a new brain, well a new way of thinking, giving yourself less of a hard time, choosing the reasons you want to eat less apart from weight loss and then looks at how to lead a good healthy life. I am gonna get Gillian' other book Eating Less which is the same kind of thing but in detail. Looking forward to reading it and hoping it will help me identify more of my reasons of over eating!
