Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Engrossing and informative   June 22, 2007
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

'Kings of Peace, Pawns of War' is an essential tool for scholars and practitioners alike. It throws light on the individual personalities, skills and practices of the mediators in some of the world's most complex conflicts. At the same time, the author outlines clearly and impartially the reasons these conflicts ignited or why they have continued to defy both pressure from the international community, as well as diplomatic talent and experience. Harriet Martin treats her subjects with enthusiasm, understanding and wit, making this book as engrossing and enjoyable as it is informative.

5 out of 5 stars THINKING PERSONS HOLIDAY READ   July 17, 2006

Not the easiest subject to write about... but Harriet Martin has managed to weave complex history, politics with amusing observations and refreshingly nimble and unpompous analysis. Relevant, Timely and Highly Readable.
