Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Guide   December 28, 2005
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Unless you are a tree hugging, hippy from Geneva, this guide, as always with the Lonely Planets range (and I have used them extensively), is excellent and covers all areas very well. P.s. Make sure you hire a car in Cyprus as the bus networks are not very reliable and mostly go into the suburbs :-)

2 out of 5 stars Mediocre LP Guides: A worrying trend continues   April 16, 2005
9 out of 10 found this review helpful

This guide confirms an ongoing pattern: Many modern LP guides are sloppily researched, hastily published and cater increasingly to middle- or upper-class travellers. To somebody like me, who has been using LP guides for almost 20 years, this is annoying. I feel almost "betrayed." Alright, Cyprus is an expensive destination with a dismal public transport system. But why needs LP reinforce this situation by listing very few cheap eats and basically telling readers to shut up and rent a car? The book literally tells you to ignore Nicosia's municipal buses because they only go to the suburbs and are thus (sic!) of no use. Well perhaps you will let me form my own opinion, thank you!? Even better - publish the official bus route map in the book, which costs you half a page of space and gets you 5 stars for making a decent effort to provide information.

5 out of 5 stars Essential Guide to visiting Cyprus   October 6, 2004
6 out of 7 found this review helpful

An excellent guide providing the reader with essential places to visit in the republic and the north, includes recommendations for places to eat and be entertained.

The book also has a section providing you with background information on Cyprus and is clearly written by someone with a love for the country.

Highly recommended and perfect for planning a trip to this beautiful island.
