4 out of 5 stars Good if combined with other guides   December 1, 2005

This is not a self sufficient guide, but if you combine it with the Nepal Lonely Planet and some good maps it is really helpful. Why go through all this trouble, you might ask, and not get something more comprehensive. First because most travellers (I make a bold assumption) are used to the Lonely Planet style and second because being of a smallish size it is the perfect guide to keep in your pocket while you walk and check as you go along what you covered against the trek dexcription found inside.

1 out of 5 stars There are better books out there   March 7, 2002

As a long time Nepal traveller and mountaineer I cannot recommend this book. Most Lonely Planet books are pretty good but this one has some serious competition. The maps are weak and the trekking info very superficial. The Trailblazer books for example are a much better deal and offer a much richer experience while trekking in Nepal. Nepal is an amazing country, but I would skip the Lonely Planet Trekking book an look on Amazon for better alternatives. Decide on what region you want to go (Everest, Annapurna,...) and look for a specific book on that region, you will not regret it.
