The best of its kind available September 6, 2006 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
Think of how many books you have read, bought or simply looked at discussing the often confusing art of mountain navigation.
Look no further because this small book in its goodness knows what reprint is one of the easiest and best illustrated companion to map reading and compass work.In very easy to understand and follow language with delightfully simplistic pictures,it is one of the easiest books to grasp an often difficult subject. It is suited to both novice and mountain guide wishing to teach eager pupils.
Ask yourself this question "Why is it in its umpteenth reprint"
Thats easy to answer because it is one of the simplest yet most effective books on montain navigation you can read.
If you are confused about what that little needle in the middle of that piece of plastic means or even more confused about what that coloured large piece of paper with pretty pictures actually means THEN THIS BOOK WILL TELL YOU IN VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND LANGUAGE. IT WARRANTS A BEST BUY FOR ANY KEEN WALKER UP SNOWDON OR YOUR LOCAL PARK.
Good general guide October 9, 2001 17 out of 25 found this review helpful
This is a short but extremely sweet guide to the trails and tribulations of mountain navigation. This guide does not look the more advanced aspects of the art of navigation but tends to concentrate on navigation techniques for hillwalkers (including excellent winter techniques). Super. And the author has a cool name too!
navigation made easy March 12, 2001 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
This is a first class guide to learning the basics of navigation. The language is easy to follow, being clear and to the point. Clear diagrams give pictorial assistance. This book is also useful to experienced navigators who wish to polish up their skills or need to remind themselves of lesser used skills.
