We spent 4 months in Northern Spain in 2005 and took this book with us as a guide and reference book for general information. The only good thing I can say about it us that it fitted in the cubby box in the LandRover other than that we could have used it for loo roll. When you are actually on the ground, in the area travelling around and reading the book, you wonder whether the author has ever set foot there. Don't bother, just purchase the right Michelin map and go for it!! Happy travelling.

This guide has the advantage of having been published in June 05, which makes it one of the more up to date guides for this area currently available, and therefore the accomodation/restaurant listings and prices should be fairly reliable (although I haven't checked any).
The guide fits with the same format as Lonely Planet and Rough Guide series, and seems to do the job quite well. My only complaint is that the title is very misleading. This guide covers all of Northern Spain EXCEPT the majority of Catalunya/Catalonia on the east coast. That means that the key cities of Girona and Barcelona aren't covered, or the Costa Brava, which is a bit of a suprise.
If you aren't planning on visiting that area, then this book may fit your needs, otherwise check out the Spain Rough Guide or the 'Catalunya and the Costa Brava' Lonely Planet as an extra.
