Useful as a second detailed guide, but you will need others! June 5, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this guide on holiday in 2002. On the plus-side it did lead me to explore towns and villages that I would probably otherwise have omitted from my schedule, which would have been my loss. The information provided is detailed, and useful if you want local history. On the down-side all the information on the towns and villages is referenced alphabetically, rather than by area. So, if you want to find out about the villages around Narbonne, for example, you will need to consult a map and look up each village separately, which is obviously time consuming and not something you feel like after a nice afternoon in a village cafe! The contents include an introduction to the region, list of sights, practical information, thematic maps, town plans, monuments and sights and regional touring maps. All in, not really suitable if it's the only book you are taking, but for more detailed information or if you already know the area, very useful
