Useful, but not general enough December 7, 2001 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
Focuses only on the Germanic beer halls etc. Need something with a wider view to really discover some of the hidden drinking spots of Munich. Beer gardens are great, but there's more to life in Bavaria than lederhosen and a mass, it's a terribly out-dated viewpoint of Bavarians.
Essential guide to drinking in Munich (more than Oktoberfest October 5, 1999 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I met the author in a bar in Prague on the way to Munich in 1997. He gave me a copy of the guide and it allowed us to squeeze every last drop out of our short stay in Munich during Oktoberfest. Essential reading for anyone that wants to go beyond the tourist extravaganza that is Oktoberfest.

best $10.00 I have ever spent January 4, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A well organized and informative book on Munich's beer gardens. It uses a 0 to 5 frothy mug rating system of the top establishments plus gives tips on everything from how to get there to how to properly hold the beer mug (mas). Even has section on the many festivals including Octoberfest and Fruehlingsfest.
Indispensible Guide to a trip to Munich February 25, 1998 I have used this book twice on trips to Munich and each time it proved its worth. The directions to various beer halls are simple, yet unfallable. Even if you are not going to Munich, this is a good read. His descriptions of the beer gardens are very entertaining.
