I bought this guide book for a short break to Chicago (I've bought Rough Guide for Berlin too). Although their guide books are really comprehensive, that's also their biggest downfall. There is far too much information, and very little in the way of recommendations. The book is extremely wordy, and is organised firstly by district, so if you don't know what area you want to visit, you'll end up having to read about the entire city so you can make a decision.In other words, if you're only going for a few days, you'll have to read the thing cover-to-cover and even then you still won't be sure what's worth seeing and what to miss. If you're looking for a city guide, you're on a budget or if you just want some suggestions of stuff to do rather than vast amounts of text, then choose Lonely Planet instead.
